Miyuki Tanobe was born in Japan in 1937. Tanobe studied fine arts at the University of Tokyo with various Japanese masters who taught her the “nihonga” technique, using a water based paste of crushed shells and other natural materials and brushing them on to Japanese paper or silk. Tanobe continued her studies abroad. In Paris, she met her future husband, a French Canadian. Together, they settled in Quebec. Miyuki Tanobe paints cityscapes of Quebec with vibrant colours, and has exhibited in in many museums and galleries.
