Norman LaLiberte was born in Massachusetts, 1928, but moved to Montreal at a young age and grew up there. However, LaLiberte returned to the United States to complete his education in the Chicago Institute of Design. Being the design consultant for the Vatican Pavilion at the New York World’s Fair of 1964 gave LaLiberte international recognition. 88 liturgical banners were designed and constructed as a solution for a pavilion building with walls of glass. Still active, LaLiberte lives and works in Massachusetts.
