Carl Zimmerman’s second series Landmarks of Industrial Britain was created between 1999 and 2009. The artist built and photographed a series of architectural models with exaggerated classical elements. Zimmerman’s alternate version of industrial Britain reflects the 19th-century preoccupation with Roman and Greek architecture. Zimmerman states “the idea to use models originated as way to make a more convincing image, and one not tied to existing architectural sources.”
