Born in Cape Breton in 1913, Sidney Howard was a popular Nova Scotian folk artist. He began carving around 1945; however, in the late 1960s there was a fire that destroyed many of his earlier works. Howard carved wooden sculptures of animals, and people like musicians, RCMP officers, and politicians. Sidney Howards’ works are present in many private collections.
