Kris Zodrow was began learning about art philosophies and techniques from a young age from her parents, who were both artists themselves. Zodrow attended three universities in Canada, including: St.FX University (mathematics and chemistry), Queens University (philosophy of science), and Cape Breton University (developmental psychology). However, she later found her temperamant was unsuited for taking degrees. Zodrow began painting in 1968, when she was 26. Her chosen medium began as oil, but later Zodrow took a liking for watercolour. Kris spent a lot of time and energy painting scenes of Cape Breton, and held exhibitions as long as possible. Zodrows' last exhibition took place in the Cape Breton Hospital, three months before her death, in 1991.
